Music

At GCA, students develop their artistic abilities through instruction and performance opportunities. Students use their talents to honor and praise the Lord while learning how to make every expression of their talent an act of worship.  Students also develop social skills and make lasting friendships as they work cooperatively with one another. The Performing Arts program at GCA has a stellar reputation for developing student talents. Students in these performance courses, as part of their grade, are expected to practice, rehearse, and perform in concerts outside their regular class time.

Mixed Choir  (Grades 6-8)

Choir students are encouraged to use their gifts for God’s glory and to praise Him through song.  Attention is given to, but not limited to sight-reading, tonal memory, rehearsal techniques, vocal technique and two-part vocal divisions.

Concert Band  (Grades 6-8)

Students will be exposed to a multitude of music styles while working in the Essential Elements for Band series. Emphasis is on sight-reading skills, music theory, playing in an ensemble, and individual instrument proficiency.

Praise Band  (Grades 6-8)

Students will develop their musical abilities as they take an active role in leading worship during chapel.  Students who already possess an ability to sing or play a praise band instrument (keyboard, acoustic or electric guitar, bass guitar, drums) will primarily focus on developing a heart for worship that honors God, playing as a team and learning to lead the student community in worship.
