GCA At A Glance
Teachers at Genoa Christian Academy are committed to working with parents in a true partnership . Most parents will delegate to teachers a significant part of their children’s training and education. When parents choose to let others do most of the work in reading, spelling, math, science, etc., they give these professionals about 4 5% of children’s waking hours. W e know that effective communication between teacher and parent is vital to a successful partnership. We have a website that allows parents to keep up to date on homework and other classroom work. We also maintain an email database and email all important announcements to parents. Finally, every teacher has their own computer and email address to provide a third level of communication for students and parents who enjoy the world of email! We believe that the job of the school is not to take over the duties of parents, but to support and assist them in carrying out their God-given responsibility to educate their children according to the Word of God. Our teachers are thoroughly screened to e nsure their perspective is one of Biblical Christianity. Genoa Christian Academy is committed to naturally integrating Biblical values into all areas of the child’s life, from his /her interaction with peers to the content of the lessons. You can be sure that the value system and life view presented by our faculty is wholly Christian.
Well-Rounded Education
Genoa Christian Academy recognize four “pillars” of education that lead towards wisdom and maturity (Spiritual, Academic, Social, and Physical). When these “pillars” are built upon the Word of God, great things happen. We strive to edify the whole child by developing and enriching each one of these “pillars” during their educational experience. We strive for excellence in our academic curriculum, sports programs, social programs, and Biblical study. Students become “well- rounded” in mind, body, character, and spirit. They become secure in who they are and who they can become. They are prepared for the challenges that lay ahead and are equipped to become the leaders of tomorrow.
Teachers You Can Trust
Genoa Christian Academy is committed to hiring teachers who not only are professionals in their field, but have a passion for teaching. All teachers are professing Christians who love the Lord and love their job. The leadership at Genoa Christian Academy treats teachers with respect and honor and creates an atmosphere which brings out each teacher’s best. Teachers are retained on the basis of merit, not tenure. The grid through which all teachers are evaluated includes Christian character, teaching skills, academic achievement, teachability, classroom control, creativity, flexibility, discernment, and love for children.
Solid Curriculum
Each year, Genoa Christian Academy analyzes curriculum materials for currency, effectiveness, and quality. The very best curriculum available is chosen from a variety of publishers. Curriculum products come from Christian publishers such as A Beka, Concordia, and the Association of Christian Schools International., as well as high quality, non sectarian academic publishers. We continually strive to improve and embellish our curriculum to ensure each student receives the best education available. Standardized test results are used each year to help access curriculum choices. We are pleased with our curriculum and even more pleased with our student results.
Uniforms
Genoa Christian Academy employs a standard uniform for elementary and middle school grades. Student uniforms have helped the school enjoy an atmosphere of greater order and appearance. Students are less tempted to exclude those who don’t dress “a certain way” or buy a particular brand. The distractions that clothing may bring to the students through an ungodly view of what is appropriate is reduced by a solid uniform policy and dress code.
Growth
Genoa Christian Academy is strategically located in a fast growing area that is projected to add 20,000 new homes in the next 4 years. Therefore, the demand for Christian education and the opportunity for Genoa Christian Academy to meet the need will be increasing at a rapid rate. While giving thanks for the great blessings of the past, we make plans for great things in the future. Lord willing, we will continue to grow the elementary and middle school, while planning for a high school.
