Pastor Joe Stoll, Elementary Principal
Pastor Joe has been in teaching and ministry for 26 years. He is in his third year at GCA and his 13th year at Genoa Baptist. He's been happily married for 26 years and has a married daughter and a son in college. He graduated from The Ohio State State University and has a master's from Liberty University. In his spare time, Pastor Joe likes to jam with his son and son-in-law, ride bikes and watch movies with his wife.
Mrs. Sherry Atkinson, Kindergarten
Mrs. Atkinson has been at GCA for nine years. During that time, she has coached basketball for eightyears, coached volleyball for six years, been assistant athletic director for three years, yearbook advisor for three years, and GCA basketball camp director for four years.
Mrs. Jennifer Cain, Second Grade
Mrs. Cain teaches second-grade at GCA. The 2009-2010 school year marks her fifth year of service at GCA. Mrs. Cain is a graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. Currently, Mrs. Cain is a student at Ashland University pursuing her master's of education with a focus on teaching literacy.
Mrs. Cindy Hecker, Early Elementary PE
Mrs. Hecker has been married to Kevin for 22 years and has an 18-year-old son and a 14-year-old daughter. This is her second
year teaching at GCA.
Mrs. Sarah Hickey, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent
Mrs. Hickey has a degree in English literature from OSU. She previously worked in the GCA Library for four years. She and her husband, Jim, have two children, Emma and Maddie, and they live in Westerville with their much-loved dog, Kofi.
Mrs. Sarah Hysell, Third Grade
Mrs. Hysell graduated from Centerburg High School ('02) and went to Mount Vernon Nazarene University for Early Childhood Education (06). In college, she had various teaching experiences from pre-K to 3rd grade. Her college experiences range from rural Liking County to inner city schools in both San Diego, CA and Charleston, SC. She's been married for almost thre years, and enjoys being outdoors; camping, and taking walks. Her hobbies include making jewelry and cards, and baking treats in the kitchen.
Mr. Mark Kannenwischer, Elementary PE
Mark Kannenwischer was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. He graduated from Concordia College with a degree in sports management. Six weeks after his graduation he married his wife, Susan. Mr. Kannenwischer returned to Concordia to obtain his teaching certification. He acted as assistant soccer coach to Concordia’s men’s and women’s teams. After moving to Ohio, GCA asked him to teach sixth grade and coach soccer and basketball. Mr. Kannenwischer currently acts as Athletic Director , teaches middle school Bible and grades two through nine Physical Education. He received his master's degree in education administration from Grand Canyon University during the summer of 2007. He has two children who both attend GCA.
Mrs. Shelly Miller, Kindergarten
Mrs. Miller has been teaching for 16 years, eight of those years have been at GCA. Her hobbies are baking, reading, scrapbooking and target shooting with her bow and arrow.
Mrs. Carole Murphy, Library
This is Mrs. Murphy's fourth year helping elementary & preschool students discover all the library has to offer. She reads to students once a week during their Library Time. "My favorite books to read to them are funny books that have a good message," says Mrs. Murphy, who lives in Galena, has been married for 22 years, and has three children. Her hobbies include photography, travel, cooking and reading.
Mrs. Terri Parrish, Fifth Grade
Mrs. Parrish enjoys spending time with her husband and her two teenagers. She loves to read books and scrapbook in her spare time. This is her fourth year teaching fifth grade at GCA and her 16th year teaching. She enjoys being in the classroom, working with her students and teaching truth from God's Word.
Mrs. Sarah Prohl, Elementary Art
This is Sarah's second year teaching Kindergarten through fifth-grade art. She previously taught for four years as a Pre-K 5-year-old teacher in the preschool. She is married with three children and two dogs. She got her BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design and has worked in an advertising agency, done corporate graphics and mural painting. Her hobbies include running, hiking and family activities.
Mrs. Megan Ruder, Morning Kindergarten, Elementary Music
This is Mrs. Ruder's seventh year teaching and her second year at GCA. She was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, and went to Geneva College in Pennsylvania. She has been married for seven years.
Mrs. Val Stultz, Fourth Grade
Mrs. Stultz was raised on a small farm in Union County and shares many experiences she had with her students. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for over 30 years. Her only son, Nathaniel, is married to Kaleigh and they have a young daughter, Lilianna. A graduate of OSU and teacher for 12 years, Val is in her third year of teaching fourth grade at GCA.
Mrs. Cathy Sturgill, Elementary Chapel Coordinator
Mrs. Sturgill taught music at GCA for six years. She is the Chapel Coordinator and Worship Leader, has directed the school musicals including Annie Jr, Music Man Jr., Honk Jr., Cinderella, Truthworks, Race to Win and Samson. She also serves as the Communications/Publications Coordinator for the school.
Mrs. Samantha Willison, First Grade
Mrs. Willison has been teaching at GCA for seven years. She taught fifth through eighth grades for two years, and has been teaching first grade the past five years. Mrs. Willison attended OSU and Ohio Dominican College where she earned her degree in elementary education. She loves Christian education and has spent most of her career teaching in Christian schools.

Mrs. Melanie Wilt, Instrumental Music
Mrs. Wilt lives in Lewis Center with her wonderful husband and their lovable zoo of three children, ages 10, 8 and 6, two dogs and a cat! This is her 3rd year teaching at GCA where she teaches fouth-grade recorders, fifth-grade band, Middle School Concert Band, Middle School Choir and Music Appreciation.
